Topshop is finally here - what's the verdict?

Topshop is finally here and Time Out was lucky enough to have a sneak peak - and trust us, it’s huge. Topshop international's Creative Director Kate Phelan, in town for the launch, was also there to talk us through the new store. Phelan, a former fashion director at British Vogue, said, "The Sydney store really is a big slice of Oxford Circus [their flagship store in London] – it's a fashion playground that the Sydney girl is going to love."

Her picks for any Australian girl first shopping at Topshop would be one of their printed or embellished collared blouses, a leather skirt and any of their dresses.

There has been speculation as to whether the quality, frequency and seasonality of the iconic British chain will translate into the Australian market, but fear not: it looks like they are going to nail it. Keep your eyes peeled for the JW Anderson collection – a collaboration with the young Irish designer, which fuses luxury tailoring with classic staples, tartans and clashing prints. Topshop’s Unique line will also be in store, and it has shown at London Fashion Week for the past four years and offers higher-end, minimalist looks.

Sprawled across four levels in the former Gowings building, the mega-store houses personal shopping suites, shoes and accessories, a make-up section, capsule/collaborative collections and full lines of both Topshop and Topman, delivered twice-weekly direct from the UK. Prepare for the onslaught of Topshop-mania guys, because it's well and truly here.
