An extreme swimming sport for wannabe mer-folk
Part of the Oceania Dive Travel and Watersports Expo, the Finswimming Championships is exactly what it sounds like: a competition for swimmers wearing a "mono fin" – where two feet go into the one fin to give you whale or dolphin-like propulsion. Watch as Australia's finest mermaids and mermen splash it out in a sport unlike any you've seen before – competitors frequently smash regular swimming world records. Free with pool admission of $3.50-$22.
