Busting Out! is a new comedic stage show that delves into the much-revered embodiment of womanhood - the breast. Created by Emma Powell (known for roles in Mamma Mia!, Fiddler on the Roof and Les Misérables), Busting Out! is a combination of skits, tricks and songs.
Part musical, part stand up, part theatre and part cabaret, Busting Out! follows two ladies as they unleash their playful puppies and walk abreast down mammary lane.
“In this day and age, the silicone-enhanced, strategically placed appendage is admired for its beauty and image of perfection,” says Powell. ”Busting Out! takes real boobs and has a lot of fun with those idealised wobbly bits of flesh that are sexy and alluring to some, nurturing and beautiful to others, and useful and funny to us.”
Through seasons in WA, SA, Tasmania and Queensland, the show has sold a quarter of a million tickets and raised $50,000 for breast cancer research and support. There will be three performances of Busting Out! at Sydney’s Seymour Centre, on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th of September, before it heads to the UK later in the year.
