Sexes addresses gender identity as a shared condition common to all and the foundation upon which differences and variance are constructed. Artists explore queerness and straightness, misogyny in sporting culture, expressions of masculinity in the domestic sphere, diaristic sexual encounters, the oppression of women, and sexual difference in Indigenous cultures. The exhibition and performance program will be complemented by screenings, talks, one-off events, lectures and plenty of opportunities to engage, exchange and of course, dance.
