Beer O'clock 19

Gotye remixes Gotye and Lauren Conrad hates books in the best of YouTube for this week

First published on 17 Aug 2012.

1. Gotye mixes Gotye to the power of Gotye, recurring (plus Gotye)
There may have been a time in the last year when you were all like, "What the fudge, another Gotye remix? You know what the world doesn't need right now, another fudging Gotye remix! And don't get me started on Gotye covers..." (And each time you said it we're sure you pronounced "Gotye" wrong). But you know what is very cool: the time when Gotye took all those "interpretations" of 'Somebody that I used to know' and created this remix. All is forgiven, internets.

2. Lisa Gail Allred's '3 Second Rule'
Rebecca Black was horrid, but forgivable – she was young etc. This woman, well, we have no words. Except that we've heard better things coming out of the Covent Garden on karaoke night. And something about using too vasoline on lenses. And...

3. That girl from The Hills hates books
In a move that made her the most derided person on the internet (this week), reality person Lauren Conrad is seen here demonstrating a new craft idea: chopping up books to decorate a box. Mummy, what's the cray lady doing to Lemony? Now, we never suspected Conrad, an author, actually liked books, but, whoa!

4. The cat dance
Ok, you may need something stronger and less liquid-like than beer to fully appreciate this bizarre cat dance from the '70s but it combines all of our Beer O'Clock favourite things: cats, vintage music video footage and clothes that show your crotch.

5. 'We're NASA and We Know It'

So, NASA is cool again thanks to a planet named Mars and a dude with a mohawk. We're not sure we love this NASA-as-LMFAO video, but hey, it could have been another 'Call Me Maybe'. Come to think of it, that might have been pretty great...
