Australia’s wine country will be transformed into a winter wonderland this coming June. On the 30th, the Hunter Valley Gardens in Pokolbin will open anew with a snowy transformation that will allow for ice-skating, snowballs, snow angels, and more.
“We are very excited to be hosting our first ever Snow Time event at the Hunter Valley Gardens,” says Kyle McKendry, general manager. “We are looking forward to bringing a tradition winter experience to the people of Australia.”
The venue’s Formal Garden – the largest formal garden in the southern hemisphere – will be chock full of icy activities. Ice-skating will take place daily as well as snow tubing (think sledding with an inner tube, making it colder, faster and fluffier). Speaking of fluff, the Snow Angels Play Zone allows you and the little ones to get deep (knee-deep) into the action while perfecting your angel-making-moves. There’s also the Snow Time Treasure Hunt, an all-day treasure hunt complete with puzzling clues and hidden snowflakes.
As night falls on this frosty playground, stick around the performance stage to be entertained by magicians, ice queens, stilt walkers and more.
The Gardens will be providing hot food and drink all day. This winter spectacular brings together all the best parts of the cold season: warm food, snowy fun, and families.
What a rip off. The snow was only 5cm deep and more slush than snow. There wasn't enough snow for the 'snow-tubes' to move at more than a slow walking pace and the ice rink is very small and made of plastic - NO ICE !
